The Mandarin Institute of Theology invites applications for its 2026–2027 Doctoral Research Fellowships. These fully funded positions are available across all four of MIT's research domains: Catholic Studies, Buddhist Studies, Taoist Studies, and Comparative Theology.
Each fellowship provides: - Full tuition coverage for the duration of the doctoral programme - A competitive annual stipend - Research travel funding - Access to MIT's extensive library and digital resources - Office space and computing facilities - Participation in MIT's vibrant scholarly community
Successful candidates will work under the supervision of MIT's distinguished research fellows and will be expected to contribute to the institute's research programmes, including participation in seminars, colloquia, and collaborative projects.
Eligibility: - Applicants must hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) in theology, religious studies, philosophy, or a closely related field - Proficiency in at least one relevant classical language (Latin, Greek, Sanskrit, Pali, or Classical Chinese) is required - Strong reading ability in at least two modern languages is expected
