New MIT Monograph: "Ecological Wisdom in Taoist Thought" by Prof. Zhang Mingde

The MIT Press is proud to announce the publication of "Ecological Wisdom in Taoist Thought: From Zhuangzi to Contemporary Environmental Ethics" by Prof. Zhang Mingde, Chair of Taoist Studies at the Mandarin Institute of Theology.

This groundbreaking monograph traces the ecological dimensions of Taoist philosophy from its classical foundations through to its potential contributions to contemporary environmental discourse. Drawing on over a decade of research, Prof. Zhang demonstrates how concepts such as wu-wei (non-action), ziran (naturalness), and the Taoist understanding of qi offer sophisticated frameworks for rethinking humanity's relationship with the natural world.

The book has already received advance praise from leading scholars in both Taoist studies and environmental philosophy. Prof. James Miller (Duke Kunshan University) describes it as "the most important contribution to Taoist environmental thought in a generation."

Available from MIT Press and major academic booksellers.
